Givenchy Couture Edition 2020

[unpaid/ad/sample/affiliate] If you want an instantly covetable beauty product, cover it in a lacy design. Lipstick and lace somehow belong together but don’t think that this is just any old lace – it’s Calais Lace, a signature of the Givenchy wardrobe since 1952.

As you can see, the Prisme Libre No.1 replicates the hand written signature of Hubert de Givenchy – actually, the lipstick bullet has it as well but it’s less obvious. It’s a detail I like to see, particularly with heritage houses that like to keep their origins at the fore. Plenty of brands wipe out their founders or give them very much a back seat so it’s a charming touch to find on these items from a  house that very much celebrates their origins.

That red! It’s not new – it’s Carmin Escapin (306) with warm undertones that put me in mind of searing sunny days where golden complexion wear nothing but a scarlet streak. If there’s any one single look that I’ve always wanted to own, it’s that, but I can never quite get past bare eyes to achieve it. It’s not as nice on me as it looks on everyone else!

The Prisme Libre Edition is Mousseline Pastel. I’m not a powder user really but the Prime Libre is amongst the finest milled that you’ll find, doing a little nominal tone correction as well as setting your base.

From the collection, my heart is lying with the lace version of L’Interdit, which I had forgotten in all honesty, just how much I love it. The note breakdown is completely me, containing both orange blossom and jasmine (and a blast of tuberose) and I can’t believe I forgot about it. Created in 1957 for Audrey Hepburn, it made a come back in 2018 and to my nose is utterly lovely. You’ll need to like a sweet floral and if you do, and haven’t found this, it’s time! Price wise, the lipstick is £29, the Prisme Libre is £43 and L’Interdit is £75 for 50ml (although John Lewis has it for £73.50 HERE). You can find it at Boots as well but it’s not counted in as part of the special offer of a pouch and mini lipstick as you need to make a £40+ spend – John Lewis doesn’t stock the lipstick so it will have to be Boots (9r Debenhams) for that and the Prisme Libre (which IS over £40) which is HERE .
