[productsample] If you’re in the habit of contouring (because it’s a hard one to break once you’ve got the hang of it), you’ll be interested in newcomer, Dominic Paul, who, as a make up artist, has done more than anyone’s fair share of face shaping.
The contour palette is the beginning of this indi brand’s journey – and we all know how oak trees grow from these small acorns. The other day I spotted that Violet Voss is now in Sephora and I remember that brand being a single product what feels like about five minutes ago. If you’re wondering about the imagery that comes with this palette (which I LOVE), it’s reflective of Dominic’s roots as he was given up at birth to a Bangkok orphanage and adopted at six months old to be brought up in Kent.
What strikes me most about the fine powders in the palette is that aside from being perfect for chiselling cheek bones and imperceptibly perfecting is that for anyone whose tone changes like the wind, it’s just ideal. My skin tone is very changeable – each season it’s different despite using SPF and it’s an absolute pain adjusting with full size products. I don’t use powders often but I can see immediately that I’m covered for all eventualities. As you can tell there are three shades with pink/yellow undertones, and three in the warmer bronze variants (this particular colour selection is designed for fair to Asian tones). The deeper end of the shade scale doubles up as bronzer or eye shadow and I love a neutral lid shade so I’m seeing many uses from one palette.
I’m looking forward to seeing more from Dominic Paul – there’s no mistaking the make up artist eye in this palette because they see the subtleties in skin that your average consumer never does (see his website for examples of this), but I’d love to see some natural lip gloss tints playing on enhancing lip tones as a next step. The contour palette is £48.50 – I know there are highlighters on their way, but for now, you can find Dominic Paul Cosmetics HERE.
