Dior Tie Dye

The Dior Tie Dye collection is quite large so I’m going to split it into a couple of posts, otherwise this will be just too picture heavy. Above, is the Diorskin Nude Tan Tie Dye Edition – four shades in one palette. The one I have is for pinker tones which has a splash of warming colour but also stays true to the pink vibe with mauve and rose shades. You need to think of this as blush or sculpt – there is a bit of shimmer in it – the warmer version is more of a bronzer/blush. I love this – it’s the star of the Dior Tie Dye show really; I can’t bear the fact that at some point I’m actually going to have to swatch it! It’s £40.

The nail shades are beautiful – even the yellow (Sunwashed) because I can’t help side-eyeing yellow nails. I love Dior polishes because they’ve got a nice, fat brush so there’s no fiddly application. Sundown is my first choice every time – it’s that radiant orange kissed pink that always looks so vibrant and summery.

You need to be prepared to experiment a bit with Tie Dye Topcoat – it does give a nail effect, for sure, and you can create a gradiant effect by using a generous amount and holding your fingers down so that it kind of muddles together – but if that goes wrong it’s a manicure wasted! I’ve used it to best effect over Sunwashed – there’s a pink element to Tie Dye so when applied over Sunwashed it gives a sort of washed orange shade. I actually really like this – over Sundown it doesn’t really have any effect at all. There’s a third shade – a nude colour – that I don’t have, but I’ll try it over a nude to see what happens there.

Tie Dye Top Coat

You can, of course, use Tie Dye Top Coat over any polishes – they don’t have to be Dior. I’m quite tempted to try it over white and see what happens.

So, here’s what happens over yellow. I really think it’s pretty good – you couldn’t get a nail shade to do that on its own, so it does seem as though we have something quite different. If I succeed on the gradiantion manicure, I’ll post some pictures – but don’t hold your breath! The nail polishes are £19 and the Top Coat is £20. The Dior Tie Dye collection launches in May.
