Several BBB readers have commented that Chanel Christmas isn’t very Christmassy this year – Dior has swung the opposite way and it’s a lavish blast of gold, sequins, shimmers and sheens in the most beautiful packaging of the season. The word I’d use to describe Dior Holiday 2016 is sumputous. If I’m allowed another word, it’s ‘wearable’. I’m besotted with this collection – can’t. stop. looking. This initial post is to show you the products – I’m going to swatch everything in another post a little bit nearer launch time (I can hardly bear to if I’m honest) but I just wanted to show you how it looks as soon as I possibly could!
You know I said I would swatch? I don’t know how I’m going to bring myself to do it on the 5 Couleurs Splendour Smoky Sequins Palette. Look at this! The palette pays reference to the House of Couture ateliers who doubtless spend a lot of time sewing sequins onto unspeakably beautiful things. There’s also a pastel harmony in mauve, violet and champagne gold.
These are all shades I’d wear in a heartbeat and I love that they’ve put gold with silver and black.
The sequin theme follows through into the only blush of the collection – a warm apricot shade flecked with golden shimmer.
And then across to the highlighter which comes in a weighted gold case with a brush in a velvet bag.
I really can’t wait to get swatching the Diorific Matte Fluids – for lip or cheek. They’re fine textured and stainy – I can’t help wondering what the red shade will look like on my cheeks.
Then we have the nails! There are five shades – I have four here. I immediately want Cosmic on my nails! It looks black but it’s a very deep purple/wine shade with golden flecks. I swore off glitter polish years ago – the exception to my rule has finally landed!
As for the Diorific Matte Lipsticks, I have four of the five shades and if you like mattes, you have the choice of a wicked purple through to a bright blue-toned red with easier shades in between.
