Dior Dioriveria 5 Couleurs Couture Palette

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] As promised last week, I’ve swatched up the Dior Dioriveria 5 Couleurs Couture Palette – there are two and this is Riviera (779).

Personally, I think there has been a big down shift in palette popularity. Whether it’s just simply over-saturation and we all have every single colour ever invented, or we have shifted more permanently to lock-down looks of less. But, just dissecting this one for a moment, I think it could be a good summer option – I was completely cynical but I’m won over.

For a start, that golden-bronze shade is a light-up-the-lids colour and it’s a shade for every eye colour. If you have blue, grey or green eyes, they will look bolder with this colour, and if you have brown or hazel eyes, it will feel like a seamless shade for your lids. The second shade is a lid brightener for all but the deepest tones, while the middle sheen will do the same but with more warmth. The last two colours are unexpectedly deep for a summer collection but they’re for partying rather than poolside. I’d line rather than whole-lid I think but intense chocolate or intense aubergine is gorgeous under or above the lids.

I should say that this swatched like a complete dream – instant colour lay down with little to no drop and the shades are all colour true, i.e. what you see in the pan you get on your skin. It works as five separate shades, each with their own identity and not reliant on other colours to be beautiful, or if you feel creative, in any combination you please. Have you bought any palettes recently? I’m curious to know if considered purchases like Dior Dioriveria 5 Couleurs Couture Palette is more your thing now than multi-pan palettes? You might as well buy from Dior HERE and get the lovely packaging the orders come with than anywhere else – I can’t find it on offer anywhere yet so it’s £50 across the board.

These are lovely but just too samey (warm / sandy / terracotta shades) for me. I love the detail on the design which is the kind of extra touch you should be getting for £50.
I don’t suit a lot of the warmer toned eye makeup and think this is why I have palette fatigue. Some brands seem to be unable or unwilling to shift away from neutral / warm colours and I hanker for some of those more jewel / aqua, green and violet tones that were aplenty a few years ago. I have kept a lot of my eyeshadows which probably are getting way past their prime but until I can find some suitable and not too pricey replacements I will keep using them! And don’t get me started on makeup shrinkflation and price increases..gggrrr!
Thanks Jane, as ever a great review xx

I hear you – I guess they’re just going with what they know sells but colour moods change all the time … next year might be jewel year 🙂

I agree. Dior hasn’t done anything really different or daring since their “Birds of A Feather” collection. This is a pass for me, too.
