[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] If you are gloss fan, I can guarantee (I hope!) that you’ll be happy with these new shinies from Dior.
The formula is billed as ‘next generation’ because it gives 8 hours of shine. It’s a balmy-gloss formula that is quite honestly built for comfort (if not the 8 hour last!) and that’s the first thing I think you’ll notice about it. It’s definitely next level lip feel in a way that’s making me wonder how the sensorial aspect of any beauty product is tested – you can have all the great ingredients in the world but finding the right ones in the right balance to create a ‘feel’ is fascinating. It’s one of the great leaps forward of make-up world – putting texture front and centre – in this case a ‘film’ with aloe vera. For a long time we’ve sacrificed that for efficacy without even knowing it really (thinking here of those mega-pigment, ultra drying, uncomfortable matte lipsticks).
My personal preference is for no scent – but this is sweet and vanilla-ish. It fades away after a while but I was surprised at how strong it was at the start. In terms of pigment, it’s a gloss – or ‘shine’ but even with the neutral shade, I found it gave good coverage. They’re not shouty, but you definitely know they’re there! The shine is exceptional – extremely ‘lightful’ tipping at metallic without actually being so.
The Ultimate Beauty Advent Calendar
The SpaceNK Advent calendar is almost here, pre-order for shipment on the 15th October with beauty gifts, worth over £700, from La Mer, Augustinus Bader, Rose Inc and more.
The first shade (bottom to top) is J’Adore, then Dior Rise, and lastly, UltraDior. It’s hard to tell (and confusing to discover) whether the finishes are all the same (the Stellar Shine Balms are 3 finishes) but I detect a shimmer in UltraDior that I don’t in the other two. I find them hydrating – I can see the claim of 8 hours applying to the moisture aspect but you will need to reapply in that time for a colour top up. I like the fat doe’s foot applicator that is more cushiony than most, with good flexibility for a true lip ‘fit’. They’re £28 each HERE at John Lewis, non affiliate HERE. If you’re not a gloss or balm fan they’re not for you but if you like a light-burst shine these are just delicious.
