[productsample/affiliate] The big push from Clinique with their new Surge products is the 96 Hour Hydro Filler Concentrate for Eyes which I haven’t yet put properly to the test because I’m not particularly a fan of eye creams (can’t shake the feeling that they’re just not necessary as a separate product although I’m open to being persuaded differently).
Instead, I’ve been testing out the Moisture Surge Sheertint SPF25 – a sheer coverage product incorporating SPF – which is probably going to turn into one of those ‘what did I do without it?’ products for many. There’s a big shift towards sheer coverage at the moment (possibly because we’ve paid attention to our skin in a way we never did before and now of course, the benefits are showing and high coverage isn’t needed at the same level that it was) and this falls neatly into a moisturising daily wear tint.
It’s probably one of the easiest bases you’ll ever use. Mimetic shade technology (adaptive pigments, in other words) means that you get a little bit of tone adjustment making it hard to go wrong on colours. On me, shade Universal Light was an immediate fit. Those of you who read this site regularly will know that my daily base is bareMinerals Complexion Rescue which I actually prefer because I think it gives my skin a slight sheen (which I like) while Sheertint doesn’t. It’s a ‘natural’ skin finish, so neither matte nor glow.
You will, for sure, get a decent level of hydration from this without it feeling oily or greasy – in fact, it’s not particularly ‘wet’ feeling so it doesn’t feel like a traditional moisturiser on the skin. It’s got hyaluronic acid, aloe water and Trehalose to ensure that your skin doesn’t start to feel dry during the day and SPF25 for obvious reasons. It’s a very solid offering for day to day wear – purely for the finish and for the cool touch on application, I prefer bareMinerals, but I think that we’re at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to daily tints so no doubt even more options will come up over time. I think it’s for you if you have oily skin, if you want just a little ‘something’ on your skin to stop your face feeling naked, and if you need continuous hydration through the day that a day time moisture doesn’t quite provide. It’s not for you if you like medium coverage or if you like your skin to have a sheen. Sheertint is £30 HERE, non affiliate HERE.
