Strangely, about two days after these arrived at my desk, a reader Tweeted me asking for a recommendation for a matte orange lipstick. I sent her straight in the direction of Red Orange or Papaya – both swatched below. If you know the Joli Rouge lipstick range, the Velvets are the new matte versions in the same shades as the satin or shine.
So, there’s nothing much else to tell you other than to run you through the swatches of the samples I have here. From bottom to top: Hot Pink, Royal Plum, Red Orange, Rose Berry, Nude Brick and Grenadine. They’re beautifully cased, I have to say, making them look more expensive than their £22 price tag. I had to pull myself up short just now whilst reading this … thinking to myself “£22, that’s cheap”. Haha, I remember the days when a Chanel or Dior lipstick was £14.50 and feeling naughty for spending that much. Am I showing my age??
