Ciate Liquid Velvet

You will have to love an intensely matte lip to enjoy these.. but if you do, the new shades of Ciate Liquid Velvet are off the scale! They’ve incorporated some highly vivid shades, such as Envy in teal and Voodoo in a brown/red shade (I tried it on yesterday on Periscope and scared everyone, including myself!) but kept a core of neutrals.

There is a huge amount of pigment in these velvets – they are super saturated so the finished look has a big impact. I found that the doe’s foot wand doesn’t give quite the precision needed for some of the very loud shades – one wrong move and the look is ruined, so I suggest you have a lip brush to hand for any little adjustments needed.

The formula contains hyaluronic acid which should help with moisture – velvet products are notoriously drying but these do go on smoothly. I will always find anything other than gloss a bit drying I think – this isn’t the texture for me but I know it will set a few matte-loving hearts racing!

Swatches above are: Voodoo, Envy, Fast Lane, Pin Up, Head Over Heels, Wonderland, Kiss Me Quick and Chatterbox.

The Ciate Liquid Velvet new shades have already launched (HERE); they’re at the higher end for these liquid lipsticks, I think at £17, but …. Voodoo!
