So, along comes the second big palette from CT, following on from last year’s Instant Eye Palette which I must admit I love and have used a lot. In this one, we have Love Eyes, Power Eyes, Happy Eyes and Confident Eyes.

Every single shade is wearable – it’s an exceptional curation of shades and divides up (if you want to see it differently to an Urban Decay palette) into four trios which, price-wise works out at £15 per trio, somehow seeming far more acceptable than £60 for the whole thing! Although £60 is pricey I wouldn’t be without my Instant Eye and I expect I’ll feel the same about this as I get used to it.

There’s a slip of plastic that goes over the colours to guide you, so each trio works this way: Prime, Enhance and Smoke – to be honest, I’m not sure how helpful that is! I’d have preferred to see a picture of an eye showing where each shade should go. I know we aren’t prescriptive these days but if I wasn’t confident about how to use a palette I’d find that more helpful than the words that are there. When we’re immersed in make up world it’s easy to forget that there are so many people who don’t have colour confidence or any clue how to use shades like these and that’s what prevents them buying. Above is a close up of Love Eyes and Power Eyes.

… followed by Happy Eyes and Confident Eyes. (I’m sorry, but I can’t help thinking.. Googly Eyes..).

Above is the swatch of Love Eyes and Power Eyes. It’s pretty impressive, isn’t it?

And now Happy Eyes and Confident Eyes. It is really a very good palette in terms of pigment and colour selection – I think it will be on a lot of Christmas lists. Incidentally, whenever I go to Covent Garden (quite often at the moment), the CT store is always absolutely rammed. They’ve got one of the most prime retail spaces (right outside Covent Garden tube) which also will carry premium rent but it’s one of the few stand alone stores that I have never seen empty.

All in all, this is a win in my book – I’d  love to see the brand bring out the trios as individual palettes at some point. It’s HERE . It is limited edition as was Instant Eye and that’s no longer available, so if you want it, I wouldn’t wait.

I really did think this was the cherry palette! I keep seeing that second from the right shadow all over the place-I must hunt down a single shadow like it! 🙂

I’d really like to see CT try something other than the bronzey Instagram eye that is so popular at the moment. The core looks the brand started out with had a nice variation between fairly mainstream shade combinations and looks that were a bit more directional and I feel that’s been lost now in favour of look after look designed not to scare the horses.

Although all shades look beautiful, that copper shade from Happy Eyes excites me especially!
