Chanel Beauty Cruise Collection 2017

Chanel Beauty Cruise Collection 2017

Deconstructed glamour? Well, I like the sound of that. This collection, from Lucia Pica, is about ditching the effort without losing the effect. The whole collection just reminds me of beaches and promenades bathed in sunshine. There are some women who can just look effortlessly lovely every single time they pitch out of their beds – it’s just an enviable natural style. Obviously, I don’t have it, but when I see it, I always notice that it’s not really terrible dependent upon makeup, other than a slick of lipstick. Which is kind of why this summer edit is about being pared back and about what you don’t do with your make up rather than what you do.

I have three of the four nail shades here: Coralium in a vibrant coral shade, Coquillage in a light pastel coral and Sargasso in a grey-green shade with a barely there metallic edge.

I’m starting to realise that these very melty lip covers swatch badly across the board – the shade I have here is Sepia, a natural brown/red shade (that somehow looks amazing on me!) and it is exactly that slick-of-hardly-bothered-just-naturally-fabulous and I really didn’t think it would be! The Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lipshine is limited edition. Alongside this is another limited edition shade called Panorama and two limited edition Rouge Coco Shines in Golden Sand and Golden Sun.

Finally, the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour palette – a bronzer (in four shades) with a gentle kick of gold in the mix for luminosity. It’s a million miles from strobe but the light catchy ‘glow’ is certainly there… I’m not sure I’d trust this on my face in the same way that I’d use bronzer –  I think you could go ‘metal’ very quickly! Oh, I forgot to mention the mascara in the main picture at the top of the post in Green Profund (also available in Brown Profund) – it’s waterproof and dark enough to do the job of a black mascara without quite being black.

The (wobbly) line is a long last eyeliner in Horizon and it’s the one thing I can’t get enthusiastic about – it’s just a bit meh and I can’t really tell what colour it is! Grey? Green? Black? The Chanel Beauty Cruise Collection 2017 launches on 19th May – Friday. Prices are: Healthy Glow Palette, £42, Mascara, £26, Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care, £28, Rouge Coco Shine, £28, Nail Polish, £20.

  1. I like the vibe, but the nail polishes are the only thing I am contemplating getting.

There is no way that I am buying another Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo as the amount of product you get is tiny. I dare you to completely unwind one and photograph it for your blog.

I’m sure I’ve already done this with other products – I had a formulator give me a costing break down for the actual product in a lipstick and the number was so small, I couldn’t even recognise it as a number because I’d never seen this before.. basically fractions of a fraction of a penny!

  3. I’ve seen a swatch of Sepia on the lips and it does look really flattering. The melty sheerness really works and makes a more typically autumnal shade surprisingly summery.
