Chanel Beauty Cruise 2018

I love the unpredictability of this collection by Lucia Pica for Chanel Cruise 2018. Called Eclat et Transparence de Chanel, it’s inspired by the shadows and light of summer – the softer, less expected shades: think hazy light, silky fabrics and ripples on the water. The palette above is called Creation Exclusive Eclat Enigmatique – super pigmented, gloriously soft and to be honest, as good in autumn or winter as it is for summer. It’s £44.

There are four shades of lip crayon – Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur of which I have two here – Au Naturel in a nude brown shade and A La Rose, which is actually more of a coral shade than the name would suggest. They soften up very quickly in the heat so probably best left in a cool spot rather than in your beach bag. They’re £31 each.

This is the most obviously summer piece from the Cruise collection. It’s the Palette Essentielle (£52) comprising two highlighters – one pale gold and one light bronze – and a red toned creme blush. You can, of course, use any of the shades on your lids or even lips because they’re very sheer.

There are three shades for nails – all of them easy shades to wear although they’re not obviously ‘summery’ as such. The first in the picture is Halo, followed by Legerete and Chicness which has mauvy tones. They’re £22 each.

And, the Palette Essentielle. I think it’s really pretty – I’ve tried the blush and it’s perfect for a spot of colour on that particular Mediterranean touch of tan, bare face that you usually only see in Italian Vogue: you only need a bit of mascara and that’s you done! It’s all launching on Friday.
