Well, 28 shades of loveliness are heading our way if you’re a gloss fan. From the product samples I’ve seen, we’re talking sheer territory – no massive colour downloads here for you to scare yourself in the mirror with. But, Burberry does sheer very well. If you saw my post yesterday on the new Burberry balms, which are washes of colour, there is a bit more to Burberry Kisses Glosses than that. They’re firmer in texture for a start, so have the longer staying ‘sticky’ formula. You can built the colours to a certain point at least, but if you’re hoping for high colour saturation, there’s only so many layers any lips can actually take.
At the same time, part of the Burberry Autumn look is a pair of nude toned lipsticks, Nude Beige and Nude Apricot that are strongly pigmented and matte so you can get fuller coverage there and layer over with a light shade of Burberry Kisses Gloss. It’s not really clear whether these are new shades, and I don’t know this range off by heart (unlike Paul & Joe, for example!).
Here’s how they shape up in the swatch. I’ve also noticed that Burburry Kisses Lipsticks are matte, and I am sure they used to be shiny! Didn’t they? Maybe someone pointed out that fingerprint splattered lipstick tubes aren’t cool. The glosses are £21 a pop – to be honest, you aren’t getting readily identifiable ‘Burberry’ lip with these, but it’s a nice entry point product to the Burberry brand as a whole. And fragrancing is very light, so you won’t fall over in a vanilla fug. You can find them HERE.
