The Body Shop Contour Palette

The Body Shop Contour Palette

Ahh.. when brands keep you guessing! So, these arrived in the cutest bag of all time (see main picture) but with no press release so I am just going to assume that they’re new and review them anyway. The Body Shop Campaign, #foreveragainstanimaltesting is causing some controversy over on my Instagram – the brand is part of L’Oreal who are notoriously slippery on their animal testing policies. I’m against animal testing – of course – but very well aware that I feature brands that do – or have – tested on animals but I think it would be a life’s work trying to get to the bottom of exactly what happens behind the scenes. Anyone selling in mainland China, where animal testing is mandatory, is, in effect complicit in testing on animals. I will not feature mink lashes under any circumstances, but there would be no blog without multiple brand make products. I don’t like it, but there it is. What I can do is keep it front of mind in ways such as interviewing (frosty) senior management at the L’Oreal Labs in France (HERE) and flag campaigns as and when possible.

I’m not overwhelmed by this – the formula is soft and blendable as you’d hope – it feels very soft on the skin – but I find the pigment is quite gentle. It would be good option for paler tones, that’s for sure. But, a contour palette at this stage feels rather late to the party. The palette is sectioned into four, with Define (a bit muddy), Bronze (lovely honeyish shade), Blush (pretty and peachy) and Highlight (gentle but definitely a nice low-beam gleam). It’s £15 HERE which feels toppy for this.

If you’re all full up on Contour Palettes and just need a little holiday glow maker to throw into your make up bag, the Honey Bronze Dome is literally a glide on, punchy, shimmery-sheen for cheekbones or wherever you want light to hit your skin. It’s neat and compact but comes out less honey and more translucent in tone so I think any skin shade can wear this one way or another. It’s £8 HERE.

  1. Sounds like a pass for me. i have the Anastasia Beverly Hills cream Contour Kit and that is all the contour I will ever need in my usually contour free life.

I really want L’Oreal to get a move on with this sale because I just don’t know where I am when I go into my local Body Shop branch. I’m not saying regress, but they used to have a point of view. Granted some years ago their makeup category needed a revamp but a contour palette just did not need to be apart of that. I sound cross, but that’s just because Im waiting impatiently for a revival 🙂
