If only all make up was this simple! There’s not really a whole lot to say about the new Bobbi Brown Sparkle Sticks other than that they’re the least complicated way of wearing eye shadow so if you’ve ever thought you couldn’t, yes you can! Literally swipe the stick over your lid. End of. The shimmer is suspended in a water based creme that gives colour – I found that the colour faded far more quickly than the shimmer which stayed resolutely throughout the day and I think that if you have oily lids, a primer would be a useful addition. However, what the Bobbi brand is good at is exactly this kind of thing – a muted, wearable version of a trend that doesn’t go to any kind of extreme but allows you to wear a flattering look without feeling awkward.
You can, of course, dress them up – black mascara and khol and that’s a whole level up – but I like the idea of these for summery days when you just want a glint of effortless style (the antiqued silvery Galactic shade is my favourite). These are especially good if you don’t have wide lids – you’ll still get a flash of shimmer. For some reason these are putting me in mind of the South of France – sunshine, espadrilles, white t-shirt, sunglasses and a smidge of glimmer on lids. Nice. (see what I did there? ;-). The sticks are £23 each – shades above are Tanzanite, Prosecco and Galactic. They’re HERE at John Lewis.
