[unpaid/ad/sample/affiliate] I’ve been testing a few concealers this week – I’m honestly not much of a concealer fan and have naturally dark circles under my eyes which I don’t feel bothered about at all really. If you have creased skin under your eyes, which lots of people do, especially after 50, there is no concealer in the world that isn’t going to look as though, on close inspection, it’s falling into creases. It just does but be assured that if you have the right one, what you see when you’re jammed up a centimetre from the mirror is not what everyone else sees!
This new formula from Bobbi Brown is a good performer in terms of skin softening around the area and only very minimally settling. By that I mean that it’s not the sort of settling that anyone else would see unless they greet you with a magnifying glass. I swear by L’Oreal Paris True Match concealer as a more budget option and I’ve been testing Elf’s new hydrating offering in that category which is still just a bit too dry for older skin (but then, it’s not really made for older skin) although anywhere else on the face, such as round the nose or blemishes, it’s fantastic.
The wands are nice and delicate, application feels slightly cool and lightly creamy and the coverage is medium, I would say. I like it for older skin as being amongst the best at looking discrete and softening and as well as feeling weightless but if you feel like you need more hydration either ensure you use an eye cream first or add more of any eye serum you might already have to the concealer. The thing is that more or less any concealer looks lovely if you have no skin creasing under your eyes – once you do, it’s a whole other thing and the more hydrating any product is, the less likely it is to exacerbate existing creases. You’ll like this if you have older skin OR you hate the feeling of regular concealers and find them too drying on your complexion OR if you need something very lightweight especially during the warmer months.
Okay, so I’m having a real ‘is it me?’ moment with these TWO shades of the concealer I was sent to test because – they both look exactly the same and yet one is labelled Beige and the other is labelled Sand. IS it me? You can find the new concealer HERE for £30, non affiliate HERE.
