Although the Bobbi Brown City Collection palettes are the stars of this particular range, launching in September, the Luxe Lip Colours were a nice surprise – very wearable shades with a soft sheen and plenty of pigment.
From bottom to top are: Parisian Red (Paris), Bobbi (New York) and Your Majesty (London). Someone commented that Bobbi prices are going through the roof – I hadn’t really noticed til I clocked that these are £25 each. The packaging is gold and looks premium, the quality of the product is all there, but still… that seems a lot!
I have never got along with gel eyeliners – I really can’t do it; I’ve never bought one and can’t think that I ever will, so I’m not perhaps the best judge for these three.
In the swatch above, from bottom to top are: Gunmetal Ink (Paris), Dark Chocolate Ink (New York) and Union Jack (London). I think I’m secretly French because those are the shades through out the whole collection that speak to me most.
No reason for this one other than just having fun with Union Jack – so blue it’s got a water feel to it and yesterday was hot!!

Bobbi Brown prices have increased dramatically! I can’t believe how much they’re charging now for their foundations.
As for the gel eyeliner, it’s a very nice product but it takes a lot of practice. I bought the Dark Chocolate Shimmer and their eyeliner brush, and it took many, many tries to get it right. I think it’s not a good product for travel because the pot is heavy and it requires you to carry another item – the eyeliner brush. I’ll take one eyeliner pencil instead.
Still I like Bobbi Brown products a lot because I’m southeast Asian (Chinese-Filipino) and it’s very difficult to find a foundation that perfectly matches my skin tone. With Bobbi Brown, I can find my shade in every single formulation (cushion foundation, stick, liquid). I can wear Shiseido’s foundations (Synchro Skin and Future Solution) in the fall/winter/early spring when my skin is lighter. But in the summer, when I go swimming a lot (I do wear SPF 50 sunscreen, but still turn a nice shade of caramel brown), my complexion goes outside the range of Shiseido (whose foundations tend to suit fair to medium-toned Asians.
I wonder if your other readers have the same experience as I do with Bobbi Brown’s foundations.
On a final note: I bought the Bobbi Brown Nude on Nude eye palette this year (with the six neutral shades) because they work very well on my skin tone and the palette travels well.
Parisian Red is in Bobbi’s current lineup but it is a very vivid bright red. Are they changing it?
Not to my knowledge.. maybe it was just the right thing for the collection, although I am sure my info said they were new.
Bobbi Brown was the first dept store line I became faithful to. I love those gel liners because they do not budge once applied. On the downside, the gel pots dry up before all of the product is used– no matter how tightly the jar is closed. In the last several years, their products have bored me. But the new ‘City Palettes” are exquisite. I have “Paris” and will surely indulge in “London” and ” New York.” Unfortunately, the nearest Bobbi Brown counter in my town was recently removed.
