Bobbi Brown Camo Luxe Collection

Bobbi Brown Camo Luxe Collection

This truly is a tiny peek at the forthcoming Bobbi Brown Camo Luxe Collection – I literally have one item at the moment (more to follow) but it’s exactly the right one to showcase the new collection, launching 23rd August. It’s also a chance for you to see the ‘press release’ and the sort of information content creators are given along with products to show us around the range. A good release will tell you the launch date, the product names, the collection inspiration, the claims and the prices – and also super handy when you run out of descriptive words of your own – the PRs have usually mined the Thesaurus already! It’s quite rare to get a decent release these days – many brands don’t even bother to send one – we’re just supposed to guess or spend hours researching the where, when and how of products tipped into a padded envelope. My guess is that the new marketing lead PR initiatives just want the Insta selfie of influencers holding the product – they don’t really care if the consumer knows the details or not which doesn’t cater to sites like mine that like to give as much info as possible.

I loved the Luxe Eye Shadows from last year, and two more are heading our way, including Jungle Shadow above and a golden option called Incandescent. They’re multi-dimensional with a shade shift – in this case the colours shift pink and green but when all together, it’s a pewter-ish shade with pink and green dimensions – a bit like Solstice from Urban Decay or MAC’s Spanish Fly lipstick.

I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the collection – especially the palette. When it lands, it will be £27.

I can’t believe companies often don’t provide a proper release with sample products, that’s about as much use as a chocolate teapot! As a consumer I want to know the release date, prices, shade names and whether any of the products are limited edition. That way I can decide if I want to buy anything, whether I can afford it and whether I want to rush out on launch day to get my mitts on anything limited edition before if disappears in a puff of smoke. Pretty pictures are not enough. I think any company that doesn’t think enough of their customers to give this information needs to take a hike and get over themselves; I’m becoming far less tolerant of this sort of corporate arrogance as I get older.

Virtually none of the L’Oreal brands send releases – often I just get a padded envelope of products and then I have to do all the searching for what they are and where they can be bought. Basically, no release makes much more work for us and makes PR look like it’s a job just putting stuff in the post!
