Beyonce Flash Tattoos

Just look at where we’re at with temporary tattoos – the new Beyonce Flash Tattoos collection is so intricate and exciting, but for one thing.

Erm. Yes, because guns have everything to do with beauty and body art. Although I’m rather more intrigued by the complicated net knickers than the piece, I just think, yes, you’ve let yourselves down here, Flash. It’s not cool, not funny and not clever and I could go off on a million tangents about the glorification of weapons being pointed towards young women, but I’m sure I don’t need to. This manages to tell that story all on its own.

The fact that all these points, said and unsaid, have passed the Harrods buyer by completely also doesn’t need many words, does it? Maybe Columbine, maybe Dunblane, maybe Utoeya are enough. The Beyonce Flash Tattoos are being sold exclusively there. I am definitely looking disappointed in you.

I LOVE that you aren’t afraid to say when you think something is inappropriate, and that you are dedicated to reminding the beauty world that beauty has power – both good and bad. Some people might think a gold gun temporary tattoo is nothing to be concerned about, but it’s the whole context where it finds importance. Thank you for your vigilance.

  2. I don’t think anybody will shoot somebody because of a tattoo, however it makes guns look cool and pretty. If not, why is nobody is going to get a removable tattoo of a microwave now no? As long as we keep the myth alive that guns are cool and make you look bad ass, people will get real guns to be the ultimate one and then accidents happen. I am happy that i live in a country where it is not allowed for people to carry guns (unless they are police of cause).
Thank you for voicing this opinion and i hope this collection flunks and therefore gives a clear message back to the producers.

  3. I would find this unacceptable from any celebrity/company. But to see Beyonce promote guns at a time when so many of her fellow African Americans are rallying against police shootings is truly disappointing.

I love the bee neck one but the gun one is terrible especially as America has such a high level of gun related deaths then again I get she has never even seen these tattoos just signed off her name on them

Of course a tattoo doesn’t cause somebody to shoot someone but the point is that making guns cool makes people covet them and once they have them they use them. One was used to kill three beautiful members of my family.
Thank you for commenting in you blog on something so important.

  6. I looove these! They make anyone just that bit cooler xx

What a shame – the gun is just such a bad call, and I could take or leave the phrase tattoos, but oh my goodness the other designs are just gorgeous…How to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!!
    Cheers, Jo

How unfortunate – the other tattoos are so nice. The gun one just brings the entire collection down.

I’m probably in minority here – being not so politically oriented, I don’t see big problem in picture of old-fashion, museum collection looking pistol (or is it revolver?). Like old joke says: “Sometimes banana is just banana”.. Pretty sure, gay audience will be positively thrilled.

Hey, Beyonce. Remember when you put your face to “demand a plan”? Remember that? Speaking out against gun violence? Glamorising guns is ok if it lines your pockets though.

Yeah the design is cool looking, it’s well executed (no pun intended) but there are a hundred other things it could have been.
