If you’re in the mood for a new lippie, Becca Ultimate Lipstick Love* is a strong contender for its juicy finish and depth of colour. These are super smooth in the wear – probably because of the hyaluronic that’s included in the formula – but avocado and olive oils are definitely playing a part. The colours are very saturated – the brand claims a one swipe full coverage – and a little brighter than you might expect when looking at them in the bullet. Becca the brand has really changed since it was bought by ELC – it used to be (to my mind) a bit of a hippy, beach girl kind of brand, more about nuance and light play than full-on make up. Recent launches have moved Becca forward (I don’t know if its for the better because I think its losing personality) to a more comprehensive and complete cosmetic offering.
The shades I’m sharing today (and there are LOADS) are from bottom to top: Taupe, Sugar, Crimson, Tulip and Poppy but I could confidently say that there is something for everyone colour-wise. They’re £20 each HERE *** Non Affiliate Link is HERE and not bad value, I don’t think although many of the shades have sold out on-line. They make a curious pop when you open the lid – the packaging barrel has a double lining that creates a sound so you will never be able to do a discrete top up at the theatre..or in the library.. just saying.
A quick shout out for the new Lip Definers – if you like a lip liner, these are pretty damn good. They don’t snap and do a good job at seamless, creamy delivery which is essential for an accurate line. The pen format includes a sharpener and a lip ‘paddle’ to smooth your line – it really works well. I’m not normally one for lip liners but recently I’ve been doing a very neutral lip tone line, buffing it in a little bit and then using a clear balm. I love the look because its natural but precise – it makes my lips look sharper at the edges than they really are without looking at all obvious. They’re £18 and the one I use for myself is Breezy.

I couldn’t agree more with your note on the brand changing – it used to be natural looking, light touch, bright and healthy looks. The overly highlighted, garish new direction the brand seems to be going in is really making me miss the beachy vibe of old…
I’ll continue to purchase pre-takeover products I like (like the mineral blushes, the liquid shimmering skin perfector), but I so miss some of my old favourites – their tinted moisturiser/foundation hybrid was to die for, and the colour selection so ahead of its time.
I love the look of Tulip and Poppy and have my eye on a few of their other shades but you now have me intrigued by the pop sound!
