[productsample/affiliate] So, who is Alyssa Edwards (apart from being TheVerySimonG’s favourite drag queen)? If you’ve ever seen Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Alyssa needs no introduction being one of the all time favourite contestants (although never a winner). More recently, Alyssa is the star of Dancing Queen, a US based reality TV show (Netflix).
The palette is larger than life, colour-wise, just like Alyssa. If you’re going for bold you don’t have to look any further. Drag make-up is a specific look so you don’t have to take the reference too literally and luckily, there’s plenty of scope for flexibility and creativity with brights that’s more mainstream if you prefer.
I rarely come across yellow eye shadows that actually translate to a proper yellow on the skin – this one, Brick Road, actually does although you may need an eye primer to keep it there. The soft nature of Inspire, DDC and Beyond mean you need to take care of drop but they deliver on glimmery sheen. There’s something very joyful about this palette – if you love brights, that is! I think it takes some working out to find looks that are bold yet wearable but we all have those daring days, right? Stay at the left hand side for shy days and head on up to the right for days when you want to knock ’em dead!
Top row bottom to top: Headliner, Inspire, Unicorn Tribe, Brick Road, Texas Made, Dream It, Back Rolls.
Bottom row bottom to top: The Supreme, H.O.E (eye roll), DDC, BBDC, Beyond, Believe and Beast. I have no complaints about the swatching – the vibrancy translates from palette to skin really well. I think this palette is just about living life colourfully and with joy – you’ll either want it or you won’t and I can’t see there being any middle ground! It launches into Selfridges on 7th June for £46.
