Silke Hair Wrap

When I did a demo of this on Periscope yesterday. someone said it looked like I had MC Hammer’s trousers on my head. They weren’t entirely wrong, but this is one handy head wrap! I think you’ll fall into one of two camps – you’ll either look ultra glamorous like Norman Parkinson’s famous Jerry Hall pictures or you will look ….er, well, the MC Hammer thing. I really had to get past not being a hat person on this one, even in my own bed. The premise of the Silke Hair Wrap is that it keeps your style in tact (extra good for curly girls) because your hair shafts aren’t disrupted by cotton pillowcases. At the same time, overnight frizz is less likely. There is a claim on this that it helps your hair grow faster, but I do have a bit of a side-eye on that one, but I’m totally with the claim that your hair won’t lose moisture during the night.

Presentation and style is spot on with this brand – you do feel you have something rather special when it arrives so beautifully wrapped. I think if you struggle with night frizz, have curls or short crops that stick up all over the place every morning, this is going to really help you out. At £45 it’s not cheap, but I’ve done the CPW maths on this at around 8p a night for a year, and I’d pay 8 pence not to have to totally restyle every morning, and it’s extra handy for holiday hair when just stepping off a plane sends your hair into frizz hell. Anyway, it’s HERE.

Did you actually use this overnight?

      Yes, I did.

is it better than say a silk pillowcase?

    1. Jane

I think it depends upon your preference… I like a silk pillow case but don’t sleep with a pillow all that often and one of the ‘sells’ on this is that it holds in moisture, which a pillowcase couldn’t possibly do. I haven’t long term tested Silke so can’t say whether the moisture retention works well or not.

        Seriously tempted on this..
        Bizarre question coming up.

I am a real fidget in my sleep. Does this stay on all night? I have a cheapo version from eBay but it constantly falls off. I have long curly hair.

I actually think if you have a lot of hair to put in it and you fidget, you could very well lose this during the night.

Thank you. Maybe a silk pillow case is the way forward for me as I do have a lot of hair x

  3. I love the idea of this Jane! I always get the worst bed head, have done since it was tiny and I’ve never wanted a random silk pillowcase messing up the look of my bed! Will be grabbing one of these, thank you!! xx
