[sample/affiliate] I think the Space NK Shimmering Spice Candle offers good value at £26 for the full size (175g). They’ve stuck with the same scent and kept the price out of the £30+ realm for several years.
The only thing that changes is the design, this year, a kind of bauble effect in keeping with the rest of their Christmas packaging. It’s pretty and understated and greatly improved by the light of the flame which catches it nicely.
It’s generous on scent with the cinnamon predominating but not in a particularly foodie way. It starts giving fragrance almost straight away with none of the ‘warming up’ that some candles require. There are other spicy and woody notes that are detectable but the first hit is definitely warm cinnamon. It made me think of the Danish biscuits that I try to get around to making every year that are a spice-fest and utterly delicious. I understand that it’s still a luxury at £26 but I can’t see, as long as you have no aversion to cinnamon, that you’d be disappointed at the festive infusion – it’s just very comforting and heart-warming and could easily become a signature Christmas home scent.
