Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum

[unpaid/sample] When Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum arrived, my first thought was that it had really better smell of bubble gum. It’s a long time since I’ve had any but I’m still tempted by an Anglo Bubbly if I see any (which I rarely do) – they still feel like an absolute treat and they’re what I used to spend my pocket money back when they were 1p each!

Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum

The box tells you what you need to know about this fragrance – that it’s bright, colourful and fun. But, it’s not as much about bubble gum in its pure form as you might think. I like a sweet fragrance in moderation – Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum isn’t something I’d reach for daily, but perhaps more when the mood is right every now and again. The bubble gum notes are accords, so it’s nuanced within the scent, rather than dominant. Other notes you will pick out are fruits (orange and lemon), then rose notes with a dash of ginger and cinnamon and a middle of cedar wood so that the fragrance doesn’t turn into sprayable dessert.

Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum

Perhaps its best described as a spicy gourmand with floral tones – hard to truly categorise but very well worth a sniff next time you can just to see what your senses pick up from it. The Perfume Shop has it HERE for £39 if you know straight away that you’re all in on this olfactory confection.

Interesting! Don’t you find that so many launches of recent years, the fruity florals, even high end and very succesful ones, are dominated by the same bubble gum accord? Like Hubba Bubba, or as you remind us Anglo Bubbly! I think its various fruits, and probably tuberose, ylang, vanilla amongst other notes. I really don’t care for it and at one point it seemed almost ubiquitous in new fragrances. So when I saw this I thought ha ha, that’s clever and funny and honest. But you really described this so well that it sounds that this actually might have a bit more to it. Even more clever and funny! I actually can’t wait to smell it!

Thanks Lynn! I think it will be absolutely divisive – the bottle is a big draw because it is so unusual and attention grabbing and I’m not sure the juice lives up to its wrapping. You really do have to spritz first – of that I’m sure! There isn’t that acrid drag of vanilla to my nose so I hope it doesn’t appear for anyone else.

Gosh, this took me back! Growing up in the 60’s we had Bazooka Joe bubblegum, little rectangles of ribbed gum and a teeny miniature comic sheet printed on waxed paper, folded inside the packaging. 1d each. I loved that bubblegum! Lol! Totally forgot about it! Thanks for the trip down memory lane Jane! Xx

Welcome! I remember Bazooka Joes – I’d love to have one now!

I think you’re right about it being divisive, Jane. I’ve read a couple of reviews before yours – -one very similar with the notes and saying it wasn’t the bubblegum scent they’d hoped for, and someone else saying it was hugely bubblegummy. I suppose it might be what your expectation of bubblegum is though. Mine is like yours, Anglo and Bazooka Joe!

My favourite bubblegum fragrance is Lush/Gorilla Tank Battle. It’s Bazooka Joe is liquid form.

Oh wow – I’ve never even heard of Gorilla .. I am so craving bubblegum though.

Give Heeley Bubblegum Chic sniff if you have the chance. If sexy bubblegum is a thing that scent captures it perfectly.

I am on a mission. I bought 5 Anglos yesterday and tried to find Bazooka Joes but none to be had. Now, I’m obsessed with bubblegum scents so I’ll try and seek that one out.
