[productsample/affiliate] I’d categorise the new Jo Malone London Rose & Magnolia cologne as a crowd pleaser. It’s part of their Christmas collection and feels a little out of place in that category. It’s light, fresh and to my mind – summery!
There’s something softly stylish in this blend – it’s taken me nearly forever to take magnolia seriously as a fragrance note but it appears that with rose and little else but patchouli and amber to muddle it, it’s actually a gentle, rounded and smooth addition.
If you really search for it, there is some spice there so perhaps it’s ideal for anyone who doesn’t like the traditional resinous fragrances that are so obviously seasonal. Pine & Eucalyptus is definitely part of my olfactory decoration at Christmas – my children have known it long enough that even to them, it’s a sign of being home for festive times. But, back to Rose & Magnolia. I feel that there’s nothing not to like, even if you don’t become immediately passionate about it, which is why I suggest that it’s a crowd pleaser – if you’re stuck for gifting, it would be hard to go wrong on this gentle floral and the blue and gold bottle lid and label are just lovely. I heard a podcast recently about the colour blue through history and it’s definitely time it came back! Jo Malone Rose & Magnolia Cologne is £104 for 100ml HERE but shhh, I’d hang fire for the Cointreau qualities of 30ml Orange Bitters HERE (£48) to accompany your party dress and sparkly shoes.
