Obviously, my precious bottle of Jo Loves Red Truffle 21 is a sample bottle… when it launches at the end of the month it will be all ship shape and perfect. I love getting things before they’re ready – brands forget sometimes that it’s even more interesting to see products ‘raw’ before they’ve had the gloss put on. You can feel more a part of that product’s journey.
If you read BBB regularly, you’ll know that Jo Loves Pomelo is my favourite (the handwash is my daily indulgence) and I’m still waiting for the Jo Loves fragrance that surpasses Pomelo. To my nose, this certainly isn’t it, but there’s really something addictive about Jo Loves Red Truffle 21 if you like your scents green and smooth. It’s completely unisex although if you asked me straight, I’d say it’s a woman’s fragrance at the beginning and a man’s at the end. Truffle is such a small part of it (in fact, thankfully, I can’t detect it at all.. which is good because it’s really not a scent I like at all) with green notes and bitter citrus being foremost. The undercoats, if you like, are more peppery and vetiver but before I get all lyrical the bottom line here is that it smells very traditional – think white shirt, handsome man’s neck kind of thing!
Jo Loves Red Truffle 21 is £45/£95 – it hasn’t quite hit their on-line store yet (HERE) – personally though, I’d be tempted by a Pomelo in the meantime.
