It’s interesting that Jo Malone is going down a cologne route with this new fragrance that launches in June. It’s perfectly timed for a refreshing burst of bitter citrus tied in with more traditional cologne notes. It’s completely unisex. I was hoping, when I knew the name, that this might be a more orange laden version of Pomelo (which is my favourite fragrance) which is mellow, powdery and joyful, but it’s more of a sharp, masculine jolt than the sweet grapefruit of Pomelo.
It needs a sun drenched day to bring out the full vibrancy of Jo Loves Mandrine and I should imagine that when the sun is high and the heat is on, there are few fragrances that will touch you in this lively and awakening blend. I am so bonded with Pomelo from this brand that there has yet to be ‘the one’ to beat it. I was going to suggest that if you like a light and sparkling orange scent, head for Orange Tulle, but it’s gone! Along with Mango Nectar and several others. I’m wondering whether to just gently panic that Pomelo might get the chop or go into full blown hysteria. I’ll opt for the latter…

I use to work at Jo Malone before Jo and Gary sold the company to Estee Lauder so yes it’s interesting to see her produce a cologne and one called Mandrine. Does it smell like the Jo Malone Lime, Basil and Mandarin?? We use to sell this by the bucket loads when I worked there!

This sounds like a gorgeous scent, I can’t wait to try it. I wish there was a “click here for a spritz” facility available! Happy Wednesday xxx
I have a bottle of a Jo Malone I acquired recently called Eau Contraire (I think it’s Jo Loves) which I can find no reference of anywhere – I’m wondering if it’s the prototype of Mandrine, as it sounds like exactly the same notes. I’ll have to dig it out, as I think the description is on the label. If it is, it is lovely.
