[productsample/affiliate] Gosh, it’s been a while since I smelled a Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance although I’ve kept a few of the older bottles. I’ve just read a feature on The Perfume Society website from 2017 where a collection of 5000 full size and miniatures went on sale collected by a Belgian lady who became entranced with the bottles for an estimated £7000 although I can’t trace how much it actually went for). I see why – it’s exactly the same reason I’ve kept a few of mine – they’re so different and striking.

Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle

This is a new version of the ‘classique’ bottle based on Madonna’s coned bra from all those years ago. The male version of La Belle is Le Beau with his modesty protected by a fig leaf. There are obvious references to Adam & Eve and a garden of temptation.

Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle

If you like a heavy dose of vanilla, you’ll love it. It’s billed as an oriental but really to my mind its a fruity-foodie fusion with pear and bergamot. There is definitely nothing shy about this fragrance and the vanilla stayed at the surface throughout the day. Vanilla isn’t my favourite ingredient in a fragrance so it’s not one for me but I can see that if it is a note you like to find, it will give generously all day long – wear it, obviously, with your best coned bra. The fragrance is £49 for 30ml and £70 for the 50ml and it looks like the smaller version comes without the decorative flower garland. Find it HERE. Non affiliate is HERE.
