[unpaid/sample] If ever a fragrance caught the anticipation of summer, this is it. I rarely look at fragrance descriptions before I try them so that first impressions aren’t skewed and my immediate thought when I spritzed this onto my arm was of warmth and sunshine. And very much a Mediterranean sun – that kind of sweet morning heat that you can feel revving up to something more intense as the day goes on.

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nettare Di Sole

Notes are bergamot, orange blossom, magnolia, rose and jasmine over a base of honey. There are evident solar accents as well as aquatic notes that drift through the body of the fragrance. I find the honey base quite distinctive but not in any gourmande sense – more of a gentle wrap around for the florals. It’s just lovely – it’s somehow all the hopeful and joyful things in one… think first morning wake-up on holiday when you take in the view (I won’t mention that time we overlooked the car park) and your shoulders relax.  In strength, it’s light-medium and in longevity, it’s medium too but another spritz during the day will be a pleasure not a chore.

It hasn’t launched yet and we have this new cold spell to go through yet, but I’ll flag up when it does. There is another Aqua Allegoria waiting for review so I’ll post that and a reminder of this when they’ve actually hit the shelves. In the meantime, it’s one to make a note of for when the heat returns.
