I will have to begin this review by saying that if you drop this chunk of glass on your foot, it’s a trip to A&E. This is one weighty fragrance in such a rock of packaging that even if you never smelled the note you’d be considering it as an ornament. It’s divine! The bottle is all soft angles with tactile curves so it feels almost fluid in the hand. I don’t usually let the packaging get in the way of the juice, but in this case, I can’t help it.
So, to the perfume itself. I think pretty – maybe a little too vanilla for me personally – but I generally like all Gucci fragrances (all time favourite is Gucci Guilty) and this one is no exception. Despite their sophisticated packaging, Gucci produces some very wearable fragrances that sit on your skin so nicely without overtaking or overwhelming. There are some lovely, light notes in this and although the overall impression is wood and warmth, it’s also a summery scent. Sandalwood, Tahitian Vanilla, and Amber sit under Casablanca Lily, Orange Blossom and Ylang Ylang. In fact, I think it’s the orange blossom that’s really grabbing me – it’s quite juicy and swirls with vanilla really well. Personally, I’m not detecting lily anywhere, but I think your nose always picks out things you are fond of and not fond of first!
I’ve worn Gucci Bamboo Fragrance for several hours so it’s had enough time to live on my skin and go through any changes. If you love warm florals with a little sweetness and a splash of juiciness, then I’d have to recommend. It’s £68 at Harrods for 50ml HERE.
