If you are London based or London bound, make sure you head to Bond Street between today (8th) and 24th September to visit the Espace Gabrielle Chanel. The brand has overtaken the old DKNY store and converted it into a gallery and experience house to celebrate the launch of Gabrielle.

It’s so nicely done – while, yes, it is an immersive fragrance promotion of sorts, if you join one of the interactive workshops, you get to take away a Chanel canvas tote, a sample of Gabrielle and a poster, which seems like a very decent exchange. It’s also extremely beautiful with kaleidoscopic walls, perfumed grids (press the button for waft) and wall size Chanel quotes.

Entrance to the space is free, but you will need to book for a workshop at www.espacegabriellechanel.co.uk or 0800 0285005. The totes will probably run out before the end of the Espace run so my advice is to go sooner rather than later. I went yesterday on a preview and the gallery itself is a speedy five minutes – if you do a workshop, it’s about an hour and takes you through the inspiration and craftsmanship that brought about Gabrielle. You can then take away your sample and live with it a while before you decide whether it’s for you.

Hi Jane, update on Gabrielle. I mentioned in a prior reply to one of your posts that I was not a fan of this new scent from Chanel. Turns out, not too many people are. I was at a Chanel counter I frequent and even the sales associates said privately to me that they did not like it and customers were not thrilled. An overwhelming consensus that it is a cheap smelling scent and not worthy of the Chanel brand. Too bad.
