[productsample/affiliate] I held on to this over the weekend as my Monday treat – I’d been looking forward to trying it and nearly broke on Sunday instead. But, Mondays need motivation and I woke early so the first thing I did was have a spritz of Diptyque Eau de Minthe, the newest fragrance from the brand.

Diptyque Eau de Minthe

So, I’m quite fresh to it; four hours in, in fact. The first thing to say about Diptyque Eau de Minthe is that you get a solid, sharp and fresh hit of mint at first spritz and think that is the signature of the fragrance for the time to follow. However, it disappears so quickly that you start to wonder if it was ever there. The mint is almost instantly overtaken by patchouli and a little time later, when everything has settled down, it re-emerges in a softer form as part of the blend. It’s really a fragrance of surprises.

The mint itself is interesting – a unique species created by two fragrance manufactures, it’s grown in Oregan, USA. It’s sharp and sweet at the same time so a bit spearmint and a bit peppermint. To me Diptyque Eau de Minthe is woody and ‘masculine’ although other notes include geranium and rose – if you looked at the fragrance notes I think you’d expect something entirely different to what you actually get. It wouldn’t be a daily wear for me although that initial hit of mint does leave you wanting more.
