Crabtree & Evelyn Raw Instinct Candle

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] So, I have questions! Why does the candle say Crabtree on it, when the lid says Crabree & Evelyn and it’s actually called Raw Instinct? I actually don’t really know why it’s called Raw Instinct either because that doesn’t really give you any idea of what you’re getting…

Crabtree Candle

Despite the muddled-ness of this candle, it’s really very generous on fragrance – I had it burning in the kitchen and could smell it from the sitting room (open door, mind you) so it very much did the job of perfuming the room and more. It’s a blend of pomelo and kumquat which I don’t think I got much of but I did get the vetiver, eucalyptus and woods. On the basis of this, it’s made me want to try their other options – Herb and Femme de Force (translation – ‘rose’) .. I have rose waiting so I’ll feed back on that, too. At £25, I think you’re getting a very decent amount of scent for the price given how expensive candles can be. It’s HERE, non affiliate HERE.

I have a few Xmas candles from C&E about 5 yrs ago that I bought on their January sale, before they changed their branding and went online-only. Best winter candles I have so far (I only ever buy low to mid range candles so can’t comment on the high end). Still I am savouring the last hours of the last candle from this purchase and then will explore this new version. At £25 you are right it is not that much for hours of cosiness in the deep of winter, especially this year.
Hope you have a peaceful and safe holiday, Jane, and thanks for the work you have done for us readers in the last, hard year.

Thank you Lan – that’s good to know that you agree .. I was surprised and will try to flag up their sale. Best wishes to you, too x

I suppose we should be grateful for small (rebranding) mercies. ‘Crabtree’ is perhaps the grittier, less pink version of their well known name! Could have been ‘Attitude’ or ‘Fierce’, or something influency like that, so we are fortunate.
Sounds great though, good value indeed. I’m interested in Herb, must have a peek. Thanks, most informative as usual.

I’m also interested in Herb – sounds like a lovely kitchen candle. Thanks Cal x

I think they have lost their identity with the overhaul of their product line. Things just seemed to get a little lost a while back and they haven’t bounced back. it’s a shame as they were so good in their prime. I loved the jojoba line, remember those huge shell soaps.

Oh gosh yes – the shell soaps! Thanks for that memory because I’d forgotten all about them. I agree their identity has got lost .. I hope it works out for them.
