I adore anything rhubarb scented so this little fragrance from Bronnley is right up my street. It’s a blend of peony – for which I have no particular affinity – and rhubarb and makes for a sweet, floral and juicy summery fragrance.
I kind of wish that the peony wasn’t quite so prominent – it seems to sit over the rhubarb and personally, I’d prefer it the other way around. The bottle has such a pretty illustration by botanical artist, Helen Campbell, which makes it look extra special.
I like the size of this – it’s 50ml which isn’t too onerous to finish over the summer. A spritz of rhubarb is all of the sunny day things but I wouldn’t necessarily want it in December.
I did notice that the fragrance isn’t an all-day stay – you will need to top up throughout the day, but I can’t say it isn’t enjoyable – it’s just lovely to have that burst of semi tart fruitiness that only rhubarb gives. That first burst of scent is very ‘British summer time’ before the dry down gives way to a peony predominance. If you also love peony, I think you’ll be in 7th heaven here! At £14.50 I think it’s a gorgeous, pick-me-up burst that will brighten your day. It’s HERE.
