Instead of swatching and writing up beauty products today (it’s Friday, it’s been a long week!) I’ve been doing that cold weather thing of idling about on the internet while under a blanket (with a very important Olympic curling match on in the background and a dog getting in the way of my typing). I thought I was being unproductive but actually, quite the reverse because I’ve found – in that secret place of the John Lewis ‘Offers’ section, some great bargains! Starting with the slouchy grey/silver cardi above from Whistles (it’s metallic yarns so expect some shimmer) that will transition extremely nicely into spring over a t-shirt and do a bit of bum coverage at the same time. Can I just ask if it’s only me that suddenly, in lightweight trousers such as linen combats or slouchy tracks, my bum suddenly feels rather ‘mobile’ after the reassuring grip of jeans? I love a shimmery top (not sequins) that catches the sunshine and just brings a bit of an upgrade to a T and jeans. This one is reduced from £139 to £85 HERE and available in XS, S and M.
I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned before how much I loath a dressing gown – at 5ft 3 I’m invariably swamped by them and instantly feel too small. I hate the towelling ones most that feel cold and clingy-to-skin if you put them on after a bath and feel bulky and somehow widening if you wear them dry. So this White Company cardi is literally the perfect thing for slopping about the house on a Sunday morning munching toast and drinking coffee. How lovely! Oh hey Phase 8, a shop I haven’t been into for 10 years! I love the lace up detail on this and the fact it dips down at the back for bum cover. I’d shove a white shirt under this, keep the jeans, wear my black star boots and be happy to go to any meeting or lunch. It’s reduced from £75 to £45 with S, M & L all still available HERE.
