Well, thank goodness for L’Occitane putting a bit of sunshine into today – I am so cold I am wrapped in a blanket. In June. All wrong. It’s the brand’s 40th Anniversary this year so they’re adding a few new bits and pieces and sprucing them up with some fancy packaging. Verbena and Lavender really are the scents of summer and the product I like best is the rough cut soap (£10) – I love proper soap, so either version – lavender or verbena – will do very nicely to pretend a summer which is what we are having to do right now. I know that the British are legendary for their perpetual commentary about the weather so I will shut up about it… but.. brrr.
The big, 500ml, Lavender Foaming Bath (£20) has gone straight up to my bathroom – I’ve run out of some of my favourite bath products (Fresh Saki Bath is all gone and so is my Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax bath oil) so this is a very happy replacement. Of course, L’Occitane does lavender really, really well – it’s a true, slightly sweet lavender that you feel better for with just a sniff from the open bottle, never mind a full immersion.
In the Verbena range, there is also an EDT.
What I really love though, is a statement on the back of my press release, that reads as follows:
“Thank you to all the men and women who have tuaght us the skills of the Mediterranean and the pleasure of living in Provence…
Thank you to all those who have shaped the values of a socially responsible company…
Thank you to those who plant and grow immortelle, verbena, lavender, almond, peony, angelica and fragrant flowers…
Thank you to the shea butter women and all the employees who share the vocations of L’Occitane…
Thank you for supporting the L’Occitane brand for 40 years…”
Just saying, here, that brands don’t say thank you for anything at all very often so it’s really a pleasure to see it. Thank you is so simple to express and it’s forgotten all the time – but very much remembered when it happens.
Wishing you another 40 years of success, L’Occitane! If you don’t want to wait for the (not yet launched – it hits stores in August) limited edition lavender bath, the regular version is HERE (£20). Hot baths. June.
