[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I very specifically planned not to do anything spuriously chocolate related in the week up to Easter but sometimes fate plays a hand. Last week, this chocolate & orange body scrub arrived unexpectedly and oh my – it is a Chocolate Orange in a tub. I’m not really a fan of flavoured chocolate (stop it – there’s nothing wrong with an ordinary bar of Cadbury’s 😉 but this is absolutely heavenly and I’m guessing even more so if chocolate and orange combined is what gets your juices flowing.
The scrub itself is sugar granules (rich in glycolic acid) which help to smooth and soften the skin. It’s nicely grainy but also juicy at the same time – personally, I think the best way to use chunky scrubs is on damp skin before you get into the bath (on a bath mat unless you have a broom handy). You need less than you think and if you want to combine it with a body oil as well to make it go further, that’s fine too – you’ll still get all the grainy exfoliation, the scent and the nourishment. Once you get into the bath, all the oils will then provide further aroma and softening or, if you’re jumping into the shower, the heat of the water will do a little aroma amplification before it rinses away.
All the oils are exactly what skin likes – coconut, sesame, sunflower and oat kernel – so it’s a great one for post winter skin that just needs conditioning and sprucing up. The alternative use is for hands – make them slightly damp first, use a spoonful of scrub and work it around your fingers and up to your wrists. Rinse with warm water and then dry – you’ll get immediately softer hands as well as all the aromatics coming straight at your nose. Yum. It’s £28 and from what I can see, the brand’s best seller.
