Sometimes The Body Shop product names don’t quite reflect the contents and this is a good case in point. I expected a blast of loo cleaner (sorry Body Shop!) and yet what I got is a beautiful blend of lavender, sandalwood, mint and pine. It feels more forest floor than Christmas tree – there’s a zippy freshness to it that’s uplifting and combined with the sweetness of lavender that’s more about winter than any festivities. I’ve included the sweet ornament because it looks so much like Honey who we lost almost a year ago and I’m thinking about her a lot. She is still so present – there’s a gap on our bed where a little dog should be – we are looking for a rescue, but it’s very difficult. Still, I’m waiting on two applications to come back, so who knows.
Actually, I’m new to the Lotion To Oil body formula – and I like it, especially if you want a bit of light sheen over your arms or legs (or anywhere, obviously, I’m just going for the most obvious – up to you where you choose to shine ;-). In the past I have given nieces and nephews who are just getting into personal grooming/care TBS sets and they’ve always gone down a treat. I’ve noted The Slather & Glow set for one of my nieces because it’s got a handy headband and four mini masks – she will have a lot of fun with that while learning about what suits her skin. This two drawer Fresh & Festive set is spot on for anyone who used to love the Drops of Youth range. As I’ve explained in prior posts, Edelweiss replaces that range and in doing so gets rid of any connotations of youthful looks being more desirable. You can be beautiful and young, beautiful and older, AND beautiful and old. I’ve done a good test of this range for past posts and especially liked the daily serum for, I suppose, fortifying the skin with peptides and Edelweiss. I’ve read a couple of studies (independent) that find leontopodic acid (extracted from Edelweiss) has impact on ‘skin elasticity, dermal density, and skin thickness’ as well as supressing inflammation and skin creasing. It’s a serious ingredient and works more effectively than retinol. The set features Edelweiss Cleansing Concentrate 100ml, Edelweiss Eye Serum Concentrate 10ml, Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate 30ml and a Gua Sha Facial Massager (again, too chilly for me!). Prices at The Body Shop aren’t what they used to be – they’ve risen just like almost every other brand. I think there’s still an expectation for their products to be cheap and cheerful and in some cases, they still are, but what we are seeing now is an elevation in product quality and efficacy (not to mention rising ingredient costs that they pay fairly for) that’s a little ahead of price expectations. I don’t love everything at The Body Shop but it’s got such a cross section of prices and products (you can still get a £3 shower gel) that you really can get something for everyone. It’s interesting that the most commented on product for over pricing perception is Body Butter.

Aaaawww squeee that’s such an adorable little furry festive pooch and Lady Miss Honey sprang to mind immediately <3 . For some reason I'm very pawsitive (sorry) that your next little canine friend isn't very far away and I have my fingers and my feline terrific trio have their paws crossed for you all.
Love the sound of this Wild Pine fragrance, bright and outdoorsy sounds just the ticket. I'm going to go for a visit at lunch and maybe purchase. I'm still using their chamomile eye makeup remover after 20+ years, it's been a staple in my beauty regime and I've not found anything that I like using as much as it's so soothing. What a lovely stuff! Gimme anytime “green forest” smell – and I’m yours! (I guess it’s been liters of Mugler’s Cologne I used by now over the years, heh…) Def worth sniffing… And I do love the drops of youth (though also started to get annoyed by stressing on “youth” in skincare – you, Jane, and other activists do a great job mind-wise in this rather conservative field, truly appreciate it!) – and edelweiss sounds rather good. Damn, already spent quite some (ok, ok, a lot!) on all stuff Black Friday… totally need to close that wallet, but how? How, Jane? 😉 And I feel you with all the kind thoughts about lovely Honey – somehow I do believe they stay around as fluffy angels (or at least appear from time to time: my dreams when I walk a forest with my first dog Joy – great gentle giant Newfoundlander – are still very vivid, all these 30+ years since his death). I’m sure there will be that other “your” dog coming, all in right time, may be sooner than you think… Let us all have warm and bright holidays, no matter what!
I know – I am really reigning in my spending … or at least, that’s the intention. I’ve just bought a jumper in the Mango sale. I put it down to being on the Internet all day doing stock and price checks for the blog – I’m over exposed! Yes, I really hope so – I am ready. I’ve applied for a couple from rescue centres but it’s very hard to get a curly coat dog (allergies, otherwise I’d have any small breed) because everyone wants them. There are so many barriers – i.e. must be another resident dog in the home for example and I understand it’s in the dog’s best interest, but it’s frustrating. I’ve applied twice for the same dog because I’m so convinced she could be happy with us!
I’m so sorry about Honey, I know how you feel – I lost my beloved kitty friend Chanel almost 13 years ago, and I still miss him every day… Hang in there!

I have been wondering if you were ready for another dog, I thought it must be nearly a year since you lost dear Honey. I’m keeping everything crossed for you that one of the rescues works out Jane. There’s nothing like a dog in the house, or on the bed! I have two very old dogs and now two very young dogs as well! I have never had four dogs before, always two or three but the two younger ones keep each other company and will help when we lose the older two (I hope), something I am absolutely dreading.
I am ready – I guess we just keep on applying or look to buy. One of my friends was on endless lists with rescues but didn’t get offered any dog at all in 8 months. Apparently, single females are the most likely to give their dog back so she just kept slipping to the bottom of the pile. I agree re dog in the house – it feels like there is a space. When Honey died I was devastated but I had a lot of time to get used to knowing the day would come – she was 17 after all and people always say you know when the time is right, and I did (after a couple of false starts). I’m endlessly grateful for both my lovely dogs and feel lucky to have had them at all.

Abbe we are looking mainly from a local rescue (Pro Dogs Direct) but the type of dog we need just doesn’t come up very often. We need a small, curly coat dog (i.e. poodles) because of allergies and lifestyle (portable!). I’ve applied for two but not been successful yet but we will give it a little longer before deciding what to do. If we could have any dog, I think I’d have one by now and I wish we could.

I’ve also looked at Many Tears – quite often the dogs they have need an existing dog in the home (I think because they come from puppy farms and find comfort with other dogs) and we don’t have that. I will have another look because in theory we could drive down – thank you for the suggestion x
