[productsample/affiliate] If ever there was a gift to self staring you in the face, this is it. I’ve noticed that some advent calendars have started to be a bit repetitive and contain pretty much the same contents as have appeared in a slew of beauty boxes throughout the year. That’s great if you find favourites cropping up time and again, but the MAC calendar feels fresh and exciting with a thoughtful product edit.
It’s also huge, so you might want to consider your space available for it (move the toaster for December!).
It’s a drawer style advent so you have a bit of origami style unfolding and refolding to do, and contents are snug inside the drawers with paper nesting. Speaking of contents…

There’s a mix of sample size and full size, and while MAC doesn’t give a value amount, I think, at £129, you’re getting a heck of a lot of MAC for that (NB: Update – it’s worth £265 approx). The skin care seems to be sample size, while make up items are regular size. For example, there are 3 eye shadows which, at £15 each RRP, add up to £45 on their own. There are two mini MAC Lipsticks and one full size, alongside eye liner, Lip Glass, lashes and brow products.
The colours are all on the neutral spectrum (aside from a red) but it feels like a warm tone collection to my mind. There are nice little dots of skin care interspersed with the make up items so it’s an opportunity to try those as well as perk up your make up bag.
If you’re a MAC fan, this will be seventh heaven (my sample is getting a second life with my niece Sophie who handily has a late November birthday). Everything feels like something you’d be pleased to have instead of ‘this again?’.
