[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] This post was supposed to go out on Monday but didn’t for obvious reasons – thankfully the site is still showing a discount and I’ve found a cracking new lipstick! It’s really such a long time since I’ve seen anything from YSL so I was very glad to see these and it’s reminded me that it’s still such a glamorous and covetable brand.
So, these Rouge Volupte Oil In Stick lip shines are 100% up my street – the texture is right, the finish is right and currently, the price is right. They’re very light feeling on the lip and give transparent coverage with decent pigment.
The shades I have are Carmine Retro, which actually looks more pink than it shows in the bullet, and Rouge Studio, which is not too far away from my beloved Gucci Rene Pink Balm in being a pink red touched with orange so it’s beautifully vibrant. It’s the kind of colour that can be the only make up on your face and brings everything to life.
Slightly different story with the The Slim – I think one of the mattest lipsticks I’ve ever tried. Gosh, they’re matte! And, they’re square at the tip. It’s something I’ve come across before and serves to illustrate the severity of the formula but you absolutely do need to pay more attention while applying. I feel I could apply Oil In Stick in my sleep whereas I need a full magnifying mirror and a steady hand for The Slim. If you love a deeply pigmented, won’t move matte, it’s for you! Probably sober application is best ;-).
From bottom to top: Rouge Paradise and Coral Antinomique in The Slim, and Carmine Retro and Rouge Studio.
Top left is Rouge Studio, top right is Carmine Retro. Bottom left is Coral Antinomique and bottom right is Rouge Paradise. The Rouge Voluptes are £23.25 instead of £31 HERE and The Slims are the same price HERE. I think that’s pretty good – it seems to be 25% off the whole site for now.
