Here’s something to pop in the diary if you have an interest in vintage fashion – or more specifically, fashion illustration. As you might be able to tell, I love fashion and beauty illustrations – and it’s why I’ve used Nuno Da Costa’s work on BBB, Thebeautyplus.com and for my forthcoming make-up range with Marks & Spencer. From Thursday 11th to Tuesday 16th September, 2014, Gray MCA are holding selling exhibition (meaning you can buy while you view the exhibition) including 40 original illustrations by some of the world’s fashion illustration luminaries.
Travelling fashion history from the 1940’s through to the 1970’s, prices range from £300 to £10,000. Expect to pay to whack for drawings from Renee Gruau and Dior.
Although original artwork is hard to come by, it’s work checking Ebay for vintage prints and some unknown artist original works.
Gallery 8, 8 Duke Street, St James’s, London.
