Just leave it to the genius Korean make-up creators to come up with something I’ve really never seen before. Square lipsticks! The VDL Expert Color Cubes look absolutely amazing. I’m trying to think whether these would work just as well as rounded ends and I can’t really see a reason why not, providing the actual lipstick is narrow enough that you don’t end up drawing lines round your lips!
I’ve done a little hunting for blogger reviews and found a great one at TheBeautyWolf HERE. She finds the shape very useful for a precise cupid’s bow but warns that if you have thin lips you might need a lip brush. In which case, it would be easier to buy a regular shaped lipstick that hugs your lips more naturally.
VDL is a Korean brand – actually, quite new at only a couple of years old, and the initials stand for Violet Dream Luminous. VDL is a really creative brand – they’re doing some very interesting things with packaging.
They’ve managed to wrap a rosette type decoration around this lip balm (Glow Balm) as well as it being a signature emblem on all their regular shaped lipsticks. Eyes aren’t quite so exciting, but I found these double hit Gel Liners below:
Each one has a shimmer and a matte version, from what I can gather which I think is a great combination for day/night make-up.
Obviously, there is no UK stockist but I have done a check on Ebay and you can pick up items there.

Interesting concept! Its one of those moments where I think to myself “there must be a reason we’ve never done this before”

I’ve got a square Hard Candy ombre lipstick I picked up in the USA on holiday in April this year! It’s pretty good 🙂
Not unlike Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick unless they’re totally flat topped
We have heart-shaped lipsticks in Asia as well xx
Not keen on novelty shapes to be honest!
I agree- it seems that if applying directly from the tube is your preference, these are going to be a hassle.
From a pro point of view though, if the formula and colors are innovative, all is well, since we scrape product away from the bullet anyway!
