[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’ve seen lots of comments about the packaging of the Valentino Beauty collection – personally I rather like it but agree that perhaps it doesn’t quite reflect the quality of the product within. It’s a while since I’ve seen such impressive formulas in make up – these lipsticks gliiiiiiiiide and the Liquirosso Lip & Blush Blur Liquid is next level – genuinely.
The lipsticks are reassuringly heavy in the hand – they’re refillable, by the way, which is of course a bonus – so that gives it a luxury quality. I don’t mind the plastic casings at all (which seems to be the cause of consternation from beauty fans) – I think maybe if they were going that way, there could have been a bit of a reference to the 1960’s when the Valentino fashion house began.
If you’re buying one case for all eternity in which to park your collection of refills, I guess you need it to be more of show stopper. Valentino Beauty launched in 2021 with L’Oreal at the helm.
From bottom to top: Red Show (satin) is out of stock (more on this in a moment), Red My Mind (matte) is low in stock HERE and so is Highway To Plum in the Liquirosso HERE. When I check the Valentino.co.uk site, almost everything is out of stock – I’ve linked to Selfridges where there is more stock but a lot is gone or low and that can mean only one of two things: a repackage is afoot or the brand is being discontinued. So, the former is most likely as packaging is where the brand hasn’t lived up to expectations (if you read reviews) – these are utterly stunning formulas – sublime, in fact – so I find it hard to believe that Valentino would discontinued. I’ve never met a blur lip product that works as well as Liquirosso and I absolutely love it despite the fact that this is not a shade I could wear in any other format. The lipsticks are £33 each with refills being £26 – that feels reasonable for the product quality.
What do you say? I’d never put this near my cheeks but wow – it’s gorgeous on the lips!
This is Red My Mind and the reason it looks shiny when it’s supposed to be matte is because I have lip balm underneath to stop any staining. This punchy red is a glidey, soft feeling texture that carries no weight on the lips at all.
This is the satin formula Red Show that’s annoyingly out of stock. But again, a perfect formula that feels like ‘real’ lipstick. If the brand is going to repackage, I am sure the refills will fit anything new. This is terrible timing to get these samples but I didn’t get them at launch and don’t go running after brands to send out when I have so much product to show you as it is.
