Une Cosmetics

I went to the launch of Une Cosmetics last week..although I reported on it coming to the UK in March. Une is the new brand developed by Bourjois. In truth, I was expecting not to like it really and had already formed an opinion that it wasn’t going to be nearly as ‘natural’ as it is touted to be. So, once again, my preconceptions were blown out of the water. I genuinely liked the range – two stand out products that went straight into my make up bag are Breezy Cheeks Blush; a simple, slide-open-mirror-lid powder/creme pink (unbelievable that nobody thought of that before) that goes onto cheeks as a natural looking flush, and Skin Glow Pencil – a concealer pencil that’s feather soft on application and brilliant for literally scribbling out dark circles, blemishes and bringing a bit of soft focus to deep set lines. The range colour chart (25 products in 164 shades) reminded me of a Farrow & Ball paint chart – the shades are all muted, natural and elegantly smoky, but if you love brights, you’ll be disappointed. As far as the natural credentials go, some of the products contain literally 100% natural origin ingredients – many with ECOcert certifcation, so far from the brand being less natural than I thought it would be, it turns out to be far, far more so! This is a range for girls who like soft, natural looking shades that won’t scare the horses. In fact, it would be a great starter range if you haven’t worn make up before. It launches next week, with prices starting at £4.99 at Superdrug and Boots.

  1. I think indeed that it’s the kind of products that are lovely for a teenage daughter who wants to start wearing makeup.
But for me? nah… I’m sad because I’d love to wear 100% natural products but most organic brands think the girls who like organic also only like neutral. I miss COLOR in this range! Too bad.

  2. Thank you for this review, I will definitely try Une as it sounds the products are perfect for me! It is still hard to find pretty, affordable organic (or near-organic) make -up – quite strange really, as there is no shortage of excellent organic skincare.

Thanks for this post, will definitely check it ou next week! Just on a small note, Paul & Joe thought of the cream/powder blush, they released a couple of shades of a new formulation creamy powder cheeks and it is a lovely cream to powder blush. Cheers!

I’m surprised to read it launches next week – I picked up some of these bits and pieces in my local Boots about a week ago. I’m particularly impressed by the Healthy Glow Enhancer as a base and the Sheer Lips Balm for a simple, natural look. Glad I picked these up, even if my reasoning of ‘I like the packaging’ isn’t the best for picking makeup!
