WWD reports today that Uglydolls are getting pretty with a beauty range. I guess this is no different to the many plays on Hello Kitty within the beauty sphere, but they’re looking at entry into high end stores at a $20-$50 price point – what? Really? That’s more than the dolls! I am nowhere near as attracted to these as I am to Hello Kitty beauty bits and bobs and other than Liberty who managed to take HK high end, can’t quite see there will be the same appeal for Uglydolls. The CEO is quoted as saying that playing on the word Ugly within the beauty sphere will be, er, fun… I say, be careful how you do that. Ugly is an emotive word.

Aw!! I’m so excited for this – all of the Museum’s “staff” are uglydolls! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the news! Based on their other products I think they’ll pull it off.
