Top Shop Peel Off Nail Polish

Okay, so this isn’t quite as good as I was hoping it would be. When I first tried it, I had to go to three coats to get good coverage and then it took nearly forever to dry. It more crumbles off than peels – I’d expected one big  satisfying peeled nail. I tried it a second time with two coats and then Seche Vite Quick Dry and that worked better, but still it doesn’t come away in one piece. I’ve done a little Vine below so you can see. I know that LCN are bringing out a peelable base-coat so I’m looking forward to trying that early next week.

The upshot of the Top Shot Peel Off is that yes, it’s good – especially for pickers – and negates the need for any polish remover (other than slight bits of residue) but I still think the technology needs more work.

  1. Good concept but looks a bit messy & a lot of fuss. Some of my normal nail polishes peel off 100% easier than this one. I like the Vine video! Good idea & lets us see it in action. I hope they do develop this as I love nothing more than peeling my polish off.

I remember Avon doing peel off polishes years ago 🙂

  3. I never really ‘get’ peelable nail polish… when people spend all their time moaning about how little a polish lasts why would you want it to be able to peel off?! x

Essence have a peel off base coat – cheap as chips and peels off in one satisfying sheet. In fact I just peeled off the toughest glitter in the world this morning, and it was a revelation to do it in the flash of an eye! You should pick it up to compare, as I’ve a feeling that there are going to be a lot of copies out this year. I suspect that Essence were the first – I saw it on a blog ages ago.

  5. Sula Paint & Peel has been around for YEARS. I hate when a brand does something like this and everyone raves on twitter about how it’s brand new. It’s a great concept (Sula is actually excellent) I just….wish people would invent new concepts instead of borrowing from existing ones and then allowing people to think they invented it?

This reminds me of the peel off nail polishes I used to wear when I was little. Not sure I’d really want my nail polish to have the potential to peel off now though!
