I was sent some Asos Paint (made for Asos by Ciate) to try. The range is inspired by style icons and includes colours called Daisy, Sienna and Paris. I tried out Katy (not sure who? Holmes, Perry or Price maybe?) and was horribly disappointed. The fire engine red shade (with undertones of pink) seems full on in the bottle but in reality is thin and weakly coloured. In fact, it took three coats to get something even approaching a block coverage, and I just didn’t have the heart or time to start with a fourth. Worse still, by day two it had chipped so badly (and I wasn’t out collecting logs or anything!) that I had to take it off. I actually do like Ciate nail polish so was really surprised to find that this is such a shoddy version.

I bought Gwen – which is a nice deep red shade but I did need 3 coats to get good coverage. Even though formula is a bit thin, it is very smooth (almost gel-liquidy) and applies real easily and dries quickly. For me this redeems it.
I also got Sienna – a lovely cool grey/mauve – the formula on this is thicker and I actually got good coverage with one coat.
It seems the formula varies with the colour.
I cannot compare to regular Ciate as this is my first dip into the brand.– Athena
