Templespa Velvelutto

It’s always awkward when a brand you really like makes a product that you really don’t like! That’s what’s happened here with the new Templespa Velvelutto – a velvet finish foundation base with shade adjusting technology, meaning that it adjusts to your skin tone. In texture, I’d describe it as a creamy powder. Bear in mind that I’m not a fan of compact foundations, so this was never going to be up my street, but even I wasn’t prepared to look older as a result!

Underneath the foundation is a compartment for a sponge – this dual compartment makes Templespa Velvelutto look far more generous than it actually is – in reality the ‘foundation’ product is a fraction of the bigger picture. When I tried it, my skin felt instantly dry and my eye creases looked worse than ever! I felt that it exacerbated all the wrong things, and I can’t say I saw any shade adjustment either. To be fair, there are 4 shades available and I think my sample was the palest one.

Where I think that Templespa Velvelutto might have a place is for those with unlined and oily skin. And, very much on the plus side, the packaging is a ringer for Burberry. There are so many brilliant things from Templespa but for me, this isn’t one of them. It’s £30 HERE if you fall into that youthful and smooth category!

Velvelutto is very bad naming if read by an Italian speaker

    Velvet is Velluto (so 2 L and 1 T)
    while Lutto is mourning

so when I read this name I think more to funerals than cosmetics! 🙂
