Inspired by simple Geisha skin rituals, Tatcha is one to watch. While it’s biggest market is now in Hong Kong, the brand originates not in Japan but in the US and has been sold through Barneys.

I’d say the most interesting product is the Rice Enzyme Powder, available in three variants (classic, deep and gentle) and rice exfoliants are lovely to use (if you’ve ever used Dermalogica Microfoliant, it’s a similar thing, and Sensai also have a like product in case you want to try it now).

The Tatcha range uses Japanese ingredients such as camellia flower oil, green tea, pearl, rice, red algae, peony and silk. With Astalift doing quite well in the UK (and soon to launch their foundation in the UK – although its been on the Asian market since at least 2011) there’s every reason to think that the UK market could do very well with Tatcha.

This sounds like a nice range and the packaging is lovely
I’ve been using Tatcha since its release in the US where it is regarded as a top quality luxury brand. I purchase it directly from their website and subscribe to their e-mails where I learn about special offers and the stories behind the Japanese beauty esthetic. In the US, Tatcha is gaining renown for the excellent quality of their products, their beautiful packaging, and their gracious and exemplary customer service. I’ve been using cleansing oil to remove my makeup for 55 years and can say unequivocally that Tatcha’s rice bran/camellia cleansing oil is the best I’ve ever used. A few times a week I follow up with the “Gentle” rice enzyme powder which keeps my skin silky smooth. By the way, it is not a gritty type of exfoliant. You add just a bit of warm water to the powder to form a creamy substance which you apply to your face. Just leave it on for a minute and then rinse. I also use the camellia oil lip balm, camellia beauty oil, and the Dewy Skin Mist. When I’ve finished my La Mer, I’ll be trying Tatcha’s silky cream for dry skin. As you already said, Tatcha is actually an American company. The products are manufactured in Japan, but the headquarters is in San Francisco. I think it’s also worth noting that the founder is a woman–Victoria Tsai. Her concept represents the best of two worlds 🙂
