[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] This curious world of beauty reviewing means that sometimes you have to wait for a problem to occur before you can have anything meaningful to say about a product. I’ve been sitting on this sample (not literally) for months waiting for my sometimes dry and flaky scalp to act up. At last! Who’d have thought I’d be happy to see dandruff.
Taking the premise that scalp skin needs skin care as well as hair care, Straand uses lactic acid and their own formula Defenscalp™ to exfoliate and hydrate the scalp. I used to have a completely trouble free scalp – it’s something I never gave a moment’s thought to and when a friend told me she had a tight scalp, I didn’t even know what she meant. However, times change and I get on and off dry scalp which I treat intermittently with dandruff shampoo (The Body Shop Ginger or good old Head & Shoulders). My scalp had started to show signs that flaking was imminent so I applied Straand The Crown Fix over a few days and everything is right as rain again.
It’s so immediately cooling and soothing that I gave a sigh of relief – the itch was totally calmed. If I’m going to be picky, I think the nozzle is too wide – a lot of product comes out at once (it’s watery) and its probably more than is strictly necessary. Having a nozzle is a bonus because you can target much more effectively than with a spray or physical exfoliant but you will pretty soon get through the entire tube at the level it comes out so proceed with caution. It’s great – I can see why it gets five stars – and if you have a dry, flaky scalp, I think you’ll find it useful. There’s something to be said for using it anyway – dandruff regardless – just to keep your scalp nicely hydrated and build-up free. It’s £20 HERE.
